AT&T Roadside Assistance saves the day

There are always times when car trouble occurs, but often times, I think not to call AT&T’s Roadside Assistance Program. Generally, I bum a ride to get whatever needs to be done, done.

But, when a car battery died in Raleigh, NC, I decided to put that program to use for the first time.

I dialed 611 to make sure I still had roadside assistance on my phone. After about 15 minutes of talking to someone, I verified I did and found out I could’ve dialed #HELP to get direct roadside assistance.

After thanking the woman on the phone, I dialed #HELP and reached roadside assistance. After telling them the car battery was dead, the first question was if I was located in a safe place. I found this incredibly reassuring for some odd reason. Maybe it was because I could’ve been in an unsafe place? I don’t know.

Luckily, I was in my friend’s apartment. After a brief information gathering tidbit, I was advised that someone would be out in about 40 minutes. However, five minutes later, someone called my phone asking if I needed assistance with my car and said they were on their way.

Being that Raleigh is a big city and traffic can be a problem, it took him about 15 minutes to get to the car. A simple battery boost later, the car was running smoothly.

The entire process took less than an hour, which far exceeded my expectations. From what I saw on Twitter, other people enjoy the service as well, which is pretty cool. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone experiencing car troubles if they have AT&T.

Roadside Assistance is a necessity for every motorist. You never know when you may lock your keys in your car, encounter a dead battery, have a flat tire, run out of gas, or need a tow. All this can be covered by your insurance company or an auto club.
